Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies Part 1:
Orthopedic Foundations
Cervical and Lumbar Spine: disc pathologies, sciatica, osteoarthritis, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, postural syndrome, whiplash, thoracic outlet syndrome, and osteoporosis. / Shoulder: impingement syndrome, rotator cuff tear, tendinopathy, bursitis, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), shoulder instability. / Hip: osteoarthritis, total hip replacement, greater trochanteric pain syndrome (bursitis and gluteal tendinopathies or tears), piriformis syndrome, labral tear. / Knee: osteoarthritis, total knee replacement, ACL tears and reconstruction, meniscal injuries, patellofemoral pain syndrome, patellar tendinopathies, and iliotibial band syndrome. / Ankle & Foot: ankle sprain, Achilles tendinopathy, medial tibial stress syndrome (shin splints), and plantar fasciitis.
While we discuss definitions, causes, contributing factors, and symptoms of each condition, the focus remains on practical application—how we, as Pilates professionals, can contribute to our clients’ wellbeing by correctly selecting exercises and, equally important, knowing when to avoid certain exercises and ranges of motion.
Enrolment requirements: Certified Mat and/or Comprehensive Pilates instructor.

Chronic Pain Conditions and Neurological Diseases

This two-day intensive course builds upon the foundation laid in “Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies”, delving into chronic pain conditions and neurological diseases, such as Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Stroke. Designed for Pilates instructors seeking to broaden their expertise, this course offers invaluable insights into working with clients facing complex health challenges.
As Pilates instructors, we cannot diagnose injuries or pathologies. However, we can learn to work effectively with diagnosed conditions. This course empowers instructors to safely teach what they know best: how to move effectively and efficiently, thereby helping clients improve their quality of life despite their health challenges. Join us for this enlightening journey into the world of Pilates for chronic conditions and neurological diseases, and elevate your practice to new heights of expertise and client care.
NOTE: While this course complements our “Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies” course, it is designed as a standalone course. Prior attendance of Part 1 is not required.

Pilates Through Pregnancy and beyond
This three-day certificate course presents Pilates through Pregnancy and Beyond Training Certificate Course will give you an in depth understanding of the process the mother-to-be is going through within and the physical changes without that pregnancy brings.
Pilates through Pregnancy and Beyond course will take you through the 3 trimesters, the “Red Flag” conditions, exercise recommendations, modifications and assists. Hormonal affects from pregnancy, birthing and feeding the new born as well as Post pregnancy training protocols will be addressed. Diastasis Recti, what it is and how to treat it will be discussed in detail.
You can join this course in-person in Amsterdam and is organized by BASI Pilates Academy Amsterdam (It is not possible to join online).

Pilates for Scoliosis
This 2 day workshop will introduce the three-dimensional curves of a scoliosis, methods of assessing them and the physical and emotional effects that these curves have on the body, and the person, as a whole. Pilates for Scoliosis will provide detailed insight into the symptoms, onset, causes and treatment protocol for scoliosis.
Participants will learn how to modify and adapt exercises for differing curve patterns as well as exploring repertoire on the mat and Pilates apparatus, specifically designed to optimise movement and conditioning for each unique scoliotic spine.

Legacy Program – Master II
Master II, the third phase of the Legacy Program, embodies Rael’s voyage of discovery to the extreme edges of Pilates repertoire and the creative process. It is solidly based on the repertoire learned in the preceding programs and expands on this repertoire demonstrating progression and growth.
This is a 3-day learning experience that includes 18 hours of instruction and learning.
